I’m a dedicated, reflective, world-traveled educator with over 15 years of diverse teaching experience with students of all ages, including adults. I am confident with the latest technology tools. I enjoy traveling, exploring nature, playing basketball, and biking. I am a confident intermediate Spanish speaker. I’m also passionate about music. Before I completed my Bachelor's degree in elementary education I traveled around the world playing trumpet in an orchestra for Royal Caribbean International Cruise Line. I’m happy to share my devotion to education with current and future learning communities.
I have taught in unique learning environments. In 2015, I worked at a low-income public school in Manor, Texas, USA, where I taught third-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies with intervention support in all general subjects. All students were English Language Learners. That year, I was voted Rookie Teacher of the Year by my peers and supervisors, which was a great honor after a challenging first year. The following school year, I changed demographics and accepted a position at St. Francis School, a diverse private school in Austin, Texas, USA, where I taught first-grade. This school is a very welcoming community that is accepting of people of all backgrounds and academic needs. I successfully taught young children with specific academic and behavioral needs, including those with developmental challenges; all students were integrated into the general classroom. I had much success implementing guided inquiry-based learning in the classroom. I was very pleased to see my students’ abilities to explore, create, and grow, not only academically, but also in their improved social and emotional behaviors. From 2017-2020, I taught elementary students and supported students with specific learning challenges at Lincoln International School in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Since 2020, I've been on a journey as a freelance educator. I engage students, ages 6-60, with a range of abilities from all over the world, in person and remotely. My specialty is supporting International students, aged elementary through high school, who are planning to return/transition to the U.S. school system and ensuring a smooth process that leads students to an advanced academic path.
